Abstract

Reflective practice which functions as a requisite during the practicum of
preservice teachers in English as a Foreign Language settings can be regarded
highly influential in their education along the way. Now that corpus analysis
enables researchers to understand how language is used authentically, this
study aims to investigate the preservice teachers’ cognition in terms of
reflective indicators with their use ofadverbs/degree modifiers, stance taking
verbs, adjectives and nouns out of Hacettepe University Reflective Corpora
(HURC). Through the utility of concordancing tool AntConc 3.5.9 to analyze
the functions of reflection in the written register, the cognitive processes of
teacher candidates and how they undertake a solid stance and voicing in their
reflective utterances are shed light upon.
