Heat pump and solar collector system with thermal energy storage unit were combined to utilize solar energy efficiently at low temperature (10-50 degrees C). CaCl2.6H(2)O was used as a thermal energy storage medium and water also used as a working liquid between storage tank and collectors. The performance of the system at different heat source temperatures for residential heating in Trabzon, was investigated both experimentally and theoretically.
