The use of foodstuffs as raw materials for energy production, such as ethanol from corn or biodiesel from vegetable oils, increases the prices of meat and milk. Extensive use of crop foodstuffs (maize and vegetable oils) may cause other significant problems such as starvation in developing countries. The use of foodstuffs as raw materials for energy production, such as ethanol from maize and sugar cane, and biodiesel from soybean and canola increases the prices of meat and milk. To reduce these risks should be initiated application of food operating certificate. For this purpose a Food Using Protocol must be organized with broad participation. This should be an international protocol like Kyoto Protocol.
