Abstract

In the present study, RMF model + TALYS nuclear reaction hybrid calculations are
presented for Yb isotopes. In the first step of this work various ground-state
nuclear properties of Yb isotopes have been calculated by using relativistic mean
field model. In the second step calculated electric quadrupole moments and
deformation parameters have been used as input parameters for neutron induced
nuclear reaction cross section calculations. TALYS 1.8nuclear reaction code has
been used for calculations of cross sections. In particular, special discussion are
given on the production process of 169Yb isotope used in nuclear medicine
applications. Furthermore, calculated ground-state properties of even-even 160-
180Yb isotopes and neutron induced reaction cross sections of some Yb isotopes
have been compared with available data and discussed in detail.
