Modeling the radio channel has been one of the most difficult parts of mobile radio system design, and is typically done in a statisticall fashion, based on measurements. A model developed by Bertoni-Walfisch considers the impact of rooftops and building heights by using diffraction to predict average signal strength at street level. A new extension method is proposed by extending the technique of Bertoni-Walfisch which is now valid for generalized conditions in mobile communications. The parameters of Bertoni-Walfisch model are determined by measurements in urban areas.
