In this study, an approach to optimize the controller parameters of a bidirectional dual active bridge (DAB) DCDC converter using metaheuristic algorithms is presented. In DAB converters, which provide high efficiency and bidirectional energy transfer, the controller design directly affects the system performance. In order to increase the efficiency of the transferred energy and reduce losses, the system control should be done in the most optimum way. In this study, the control of the DAB converter is realized using both a proportional-integral (PI) controller and a fractional proportional-integral (FOPI) controller. The control parameters of the two different controllers are obtained by Artificial Rabbits Optimization (ARO) and Nutcracker Optimization Algorithm (NOA). The Integrated Time Weighted Absolute Error (ITAE) criterion is used as the objective function to determine the controller parameters. In this study, the effects of the PI and FOPI controller parameters obtained with two different algorithms on the performance of the DAB converter are analyzed in detail and a contribution to the literature on the effectiveness of metaheuristic algorithms in DAB converter control is presented.
