Abstract

In this study, the control of the magnetic ball suspension system is designed with a fractional order PID (FOPID) controller and the FOPID parameters are optimized using a Matlab-based genetic algorithm. The controller with GA based optimum parameters is adapted to the system model and performance analysis is performed. It is observed that GA-based fractional PID controllers provide more precise and stable responses for system control by further reducing oscillations compared to conventional PID controllers designed with different algorithms.
