Özet

Capillary refill time (CRT) is a numerical value representing the blood flow to the extremities, such as fingers and toes, to evaluate the perfusion or blood flow. Utilizing such a simple and non-invasive technique, more insight can be gained about the circulatory status of the patients. The CRT can be measured by applying pressure to the patient's nail bed or skin,  causing it to turn white. When the pressure is released, the time it takes the blood to flow back, which causes the skin to take its original color, is measured. This time window is narrow and takes less than 2 seconds for a normal adult. This study aimed to measure this window more reliably by designing a novel device that uses color and pressure sensors. The pressure sensor helps to find the proper pressure and pressure application time, while the color sensor reads the CRT. Two main designs were presented in this study. One is for continuous applications on bedridden patients and the second is for quick use. All the obtained data is transferred to a screen for the applicator to read about the pressure applied, pressure time, and CRT for monitoring.
