In this research, some soil characteristics of fragmented green belt forest ecosystem were analyzed located in Ahir Mountain, Kahramanmaras. Fragmented forest areas were detected using Landsat8 satellite images and selected 30 different trial areas. pH, electrical conductivity (EC), texture, dispersion ratio (DR), field capacity (FC), organic matter content (OM), total Nitrogen (N) cation exchange capacity (CEC), lime content (LC), porosity (PR), bulk density (BD), grain density (GD) and water retention capacity (WRC) analyzes were performed with soil samples. Different fragmented forest size (0.54 ha and 69.9 ha) and distance (4.79 m-980 m) were determined in the study area. According to correlation analysis, the tendency of OM, PR and WRC to decrease, the tendency of BD and DR to increase as forest areas become smaller. According to the results of variance analysis, forest size and EC, clay, silt, OM, lime content, DR, FC, CEC, permeability, PR, BD, WRC, N, C/N values statistically (Sig<0.05) significant differences were determined. A significant difference could be detected between distance and pH only. According to the correlation analysis the small fragmentation of the forest and the long distance between them caused a significant reduction in the porosity values of soil and thus increased the soil erosion sensitivity and degradation. Green belt of forest ecosystems should be protected and not be allowed to 2B applications and convert to different land use.
