Abstract

The thick films of YBCO and Y0.5RE0.5BCO (RE=Er, Yb, Sm, Ho) on YSZ buffer layered flexible Ni tape by sol-gel dip coating process has been investigated. The sol-gel dip coating process was used to prepare both superconductive film and YSZ buffer layer on flexible cube textured Ni tape. SEM, EDS, and XRD analysis were used to characterize the superconducting coated conductor. The films produced in this manner were dense and free of cracks. The Ic enhancement was obtained by Yb and Er substitution for Y by sol-gel dip coating process.
