Abstract

The first amphiphilic axially disubstituted silicon phthalocyanine 5 and peripherally tetra-substituted manganese phthalocyanine 6 bearing 1,2,4-triazole units were synthesized and characterized for the first time in this study. The new compounds were characterized by using IR, H-1 and C-13 NMR, UV-vis and mass spectroscopic data. The electrochemical properties of amphiphilic axially disubstituted silicon phthalocyanine and peripherally tetra-substituted manganese phthalocyanine bearing 1,2,4-triazole units were investigated by cyclic (CV) and square wave voltammetry (SWV) techniques. While (MnCIPc)-C-III showed only metal based reduction reactions, (SiPc)-Pc-IV showed only ligand based reduction reactions as expected. Cyclic voltammetry revealed two reduction couples and one oxidation couple for (SiPc)-Pc-IV 5 and (MnCIPc)-C-III 6. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
