In order for businesses to be sustainable and competitive, it is essential to eliminate all non-value-added activities from their production systems. In this context, one of the most important factors in the success of a production system is also the efficiency of internal logistics activities. In this study, a multi-criteria group decision making (MCGDM) methodology is presented on the determination of the most suitable material handling equipment to successfully perform the internal logistics activities of a company that adopts lean production. To determine the most appropriate material handling equipment, a hesitant fuzzy AHP (HF-AHP) methodology is performed by consulting three experts. According to experts’ evaluations, the alternatives for lean in-plant logistic practices are considered as a Belt conveyor, Tow conveyor, Tugger train, and AGV. The criteria are the Economic aspect, Operational aspect, Material-move-method aspect, and Lean aspect. According to the obtained results, the tugger train is determined as the most appropriate alternative regarding the aforementioned criteria for the manufacturing system.
