3RD INTERNATIONAL CIVILENGINEERING&ARCHITECTURE CONFERENCE, Trabzon, Türkiye, 12 - 14 Ekim 2023, cilt.1, ss.443-453
Purpose: In this study, it is aimed to determine the depths at which liquefaction may occur in earthquake-prone areas
and to prepare liquefaction potential maps of these moments.
Study design/methodology/approach: In this study, liquefaction potential analysis and mapping of Altınova District
of Yalova, which is located on the North Anatolian Fault Line, was carried out. Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) were
performed by drilling 6 boreholes in the region. Using the data obtained from the SPT, liquefaction potential analyses
were performed using MATLAB software in accordance with the rules specified in Seed-Idriss Simplified Liquefaction
Procedure and Turkey Building Earthquake Regulation (TBEC-2018). Then, liquefaction potential maps were produced
using ArcGIS program depending on different earthquake magnitudes.
Study design/methodology/approach: As a result of this study, liquefaction analyses of the earthquake risky region
according to different methods and various earthquake magnitudes were performed, and comprehensive liquefaction
potential maps of the region were obtained.
Originality/value: In previous studies, liquefaction analyses were performed for certain earthquake magnitudes. In this
study, liquefaction analyses were performed for a large number of earthquake magnitudes and the probability of
liquefaction at which depth and in which magnitude earthquake was determined and mapped.
