Özet
This study investigates the computational optimization and dynamic response of a Steel Space Truss Roof Structure (SSTRS) under near-fault (NF) and far-fault (FF) ground motions. A comprehensive metaheuristic framework is implemented to evaluate the standard Rao-1, Rao-2, and self-adaptive SapRao algorithms against the well-established Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization (TLBO) algorithm. An integrated SAP2000–MATLAB framework, driven by MATLAB scripts coupled with the Open Application Programming Interface (OAPI) of SAP2000, was developed to automate iterative analysis and optimization under multiple load scenarios, including dead, wind, snow, cladding, and seismic loads. The structural models, encompassing both fixed and seismically isolated configurations, are evaluated via nonlinear time-history analyses under scaled bi-directional dynamic loadings, including vertical components. Based on the compiled numerical and structural simulations, several critical insights were obtained. The standard Rao-1 framework exhibits strong optimization performance, achieving the same minimum structural weights as the well-established TLBO algorithm across the evaluated fixed SSTRS seismic suites while providing a 50.68% reduction in total execution time. NF effects induce locally elevated structural demands, whereas FF ground motions with large displacement pulses may still produce relatively higher response ratios even in seismically isolated SSTRS. The isolation system filters out severe accelerations, leading to convergence of exactly 47.4% relative to the maximum weight obtained in the fixed case across all optimization algorithms and records.
