The study was conducted with 213 nurse students in Health School of Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) to determine their opinions regarding nursing leadership and their expectations from the nurse leaders. Data was gathered with a questionnaire composed of 15 questions. 52% of nurse students stated that their training did not provide leadership qualities. 59% of them explained that the nurse managers at hospitals did not have necessary peculiarities of leadership, and senior students also supported this view (p= 0.001). However, the students desired that they should have leadership qualities such as professional, managerial knowledge and skills, being fair/neutral, and the communication skills. (C) 2013 The Authors.
