About me,

Growing up in a small coastal town, it was really hard to catch the opportunity to pursue a career in medicine. The educational institutions where I lived were relatively poor. Despite facing numerous challenges and setbacks along the way, I remained determined and focused on my goal. I worked hard and was able to achieve the 71st highest score in the nationwide examination among 1.6 million examinee.

This accomplishment allowed me to enter the country’s best medical school (Istanbul Faculty of Medicine) and begin my journey towards a career in medicine. Despite the long hours and intense coursework, I had loved every moment of my time in medical school. As graduation approached, I began to think about the next steps in my career. I received an exciting opportunity to participate in a visiting student program at Surgical ICU at the Department of Surgery at University of Texas at San Antonio, and at the Department of Cardiology at Texas Heart Institute. 

After graduation, I decided to pursue further training in the United States. I applied to several top research programs and was accepted into Vascularized Allotransplantation Laboratory of the Department of Plastic Surgery at University of Pittsburgh. Throughout two years, I was able to learn from some of the best minds in the field and gain valuable experience that would later help me in my career.

During my time as a research fellow, one of my most notable accomplishments has been my research on whole eye transplantation in pigs and rats, and hind limb transplantation in rats. This work required me to learn transplantation immunology and microsurgery from scratch, but my hard work paid off as I was able to achieve great success and precision in my techniques.

In addition to my research, I have also presented my findings at several world-renowned annual plastic surgery meetings in the United States. My team and I were even awarded the best award cup from the Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Surgeons for our work.

Upon returning to my home country, I took the national residency exam and was able to match a Plastic Surgery Residency Program. I have been a resident at the Department of Plastic Surgery for the past two years and am now in my postgraduate year three.

I am grateful for the opportunities that I have been given and am dedicated to continuing my education and training in order to become the best plastic surgeon that I can be. I am excited for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead and am committed to using my skills and knowledge to help improve the lives of my patients.
