I, Muhammad Waqas is a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences (Solid Waste Management) from King Abdul Aziz University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. During Ph.D., my research was focused on developing novel approaches for optimizing the conversion of Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Waste to organic fertilizer (compost). Moreover, I am also working on waste-to-energy technologies by utilizing the potential of various organic biomass. Being a principal investigator and co-principal investigator I had completed various national and international research projects related to Solid Waste Management, Environmental Sustainability and Energy. Currently, I am working as Assistant Professor (Guest) at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Karadeniz Technical University, Turkiye and Department of Environmental Sciences, Kohat University of Science and Technology, Pakistan (regular basis). Moreover, I am also the team member of solid waste management group at the Center of Excellence in Environmental Studies (CEES) of King Abdul Aziz University, Saudi Arabia. During my carrier I had published 39 research articles and 04 book chapters in many peer reviewed journals. My entire research carrier is focused on environmental research and sustainability. I presented my research work in various international and national conferences and also chaired session in four international conferences. I am the review editor in the Editorial Board of Energy & Environment and Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology and Energy Research. I got Gold Medal in MSc (Hons) and BSc (Hons) and also recipient of Best Performance Award as an outstanding performance during his academic carrier.

In addition to education and research with multicultural working abilities, I am actively involved in various programs initiated by the Government of Pakistan in collaboration with Higher Education Institutions. At university level, I am the focal person of Prime Minister’s Green Youth Movement and Engagement of Students for Young Initiatives for SDGs that aims to invest in the development of youth and to make them skilled, confident, resourceful & self-reliant ultimately enabling them to contribute positively in the progress & economic stability of Pakistan. Likewise, I am also the member of academic search committee for the selection and feasibility of various academic programs to be initiated by the university. In addition, at department level I am the convener/member of various committees for the curriculum development and ensuring the provision of quality education and meaningful engagement for gainful potential employment and responsible citizen.
