Özet

During the teaching of physics, significant and consistent learning is required to prepared the ground for active learning and active learning is required to create effective participation of students to the education-teaching activities. Hence, the purpose of the study is to determine the effects of the guided discussion methods applied for the teaching of physics on the student's success. The study was carried out with 9(th) grade 24 students in Tevfik Serdar Anatolian High School in the context of developmental action reseach in the spring semester of 2008-2009 education year. During the study consisting of pre-test and post-test model, the level of significance based on pre-test and post-test grade were analysed by using Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test. According to the findings, implemention of teaching of physics through a guided discussion method can be said to have an positive effect and which increases the success of teaching the terms related to magnetism subject of "Electricity and Mangetism" unite for 9(th) grade (t = -3.173, p < 0.05). The study was completed by presenting suggestions for teachers, student teachers and lecturers for the implementation of guided discussion in an expected level.
