Biography
Prof. Halil İbrahim Güler is a faculty member in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Karadeniz Technical University. He completed his undergraduate education at Cumhuriyet University and received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Karadeniz Technical University. He began his academic career as a research assistant and later joined the faculty as a professor.

His research focuses on molecular biology, microbiology, and particularly bioinformatics. He has extensive experience in recombinant DNA technologies, characterization of plasmid replication systems, gene cloning, and heterologous protein expression. He integrates both in silico and in vitro approaches, including plasmid analysis, plasmid copy number determination by qPCR, and protein–DNA interaction modeling.
In addition, he applies advanced computational drug discovery strategies, including molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, and MM/PBSA binding free energy calculations to elucidate protein–ligand interactions at atomic resolution. His expertise further encompasses pharmacophore modeling, structure-based and ligand-based virtual screening, QSAR modeling, and comprehensive ADMET profiling to identify and optimize bioactive compounds. Through the integration of cheminformatics, molecular modeling, and machine learning approaches, he aims to rationally design and prioritize novel molecules with enhanced biological efficacy and drug-likeness properties.
His research has been disseminated through publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed international scientific journals, contributing to the advancement of molecular biology, biotechnology, and computational drug discovery.
