General Information


As an assistant professor and chair of the Department of Foreign Language Education, Servet Çelik is extensively involved in teacher training and the teaching of English as a foreign language (EFL). His professional interests include teacher training and professional development, technology in language education, and multiculturalism/multicultural competence. His work in these areas has been published in numerous refereed academic journals, as well as presented at national and international conferences. In addition, he serves as co-editor of the international language journal Sustainable Multilingualism.

Dr. Çelik has also been closely involved in curriculum and materials development for EFL instruction and has served as consultant on these issues to various government organizations. In this capacity, he edited the I Know English series of teaching texts for second graders that is published and distributed for the Turkish Ministry of National Education (Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı). Other recent work includes the recently published and well-received Approaches and Principles inEnglish as a Foreign Language (EFL) Education, a comprehensive English language teaching methodology text that considers the unique issues related to English language instruction in contexts where English is taught as a foreign, rather than a second language [Çelik, S. (Ed.). (2014). Approachesand principles in English as a foreign language (EFL)education. Ankara, Turkey: Eğiten].
