Biography

Prof. Dr. Özgür Tüfekçi,

Dr. Tüfekçi received his undergraduate degree in International Relations from KTU in 2004. He started his master's program that same year, but left it in 2007 to pursue a postgraduate education abroad scholarship from the Ministry of National Education. He went to England and earned a Master's degree in International Relations from the University of Sheffield and a PhD in Sociology and International Relations from Coventry University. His main research areas are Eurasianism, Nation Building, Theories of Nationalism, Geopolitical Theories, and Emerging Powers.

Dr. Tüfekçi is the editor-in-chief of The Rest: Journal of Politics and Development and Novus Orbis: Political Science and International Relations.

Dr. Tüfekçi received the award for most successful scientist in the field of Social and Human Sciences at Karadeniz Technical University in 2018, the Best Doctoral Thesis Award and the YÖK Outstanding Achievement Award in 2023 with a doctoral student he supervised at KTU, and the Best Doctoral Thesis Award again in 2024 and 2025 with doctoral students he supervised at KTU.

He is also the founder and General Director of CESRAN International (www.cesran.org), an international think tank.
